Principal's Message

Jessalyn Spell grew up in Gaston County, just west of Charlotte, NC. She earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a Dance concentration at UNC-Greensboro where she was a Teaching Fellow. She later earned a graduate degree in Elementary Education from Pfeiffer University-Charlotte Campus and a post-master's certificate in School Administration from Gardner Webb University. In 2024, she completed her EdS degree in Educational Leadership from Appalachian State University.

Before becoming the principal of Troy Elementary, Jessalyn had served as the Director of Accountability and Quality in Montgomery County Schools for two years and as the district's Differentiation Coordinator overseeing the MTSS< AIG, and ESL programs. Before becoming a district administrator, she taught all grades 2-10 over her 11 years in the classroom. When able, she also teaches courses for Montgomery Community College. 

On a personal note, Jessalyn enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities, travelling, and the Atlanta Braves. She currently resides at High Rock Lake in Denton, NC with her husband, two sons, two dogs, and a handful of chickens!
